Streaming FAQs

What is Streaming Video Service

Streaming Video Service is an on demand online entertainment source for TV shows, movies and other streaming media. These services offer an alternative to traditional Cable or Satellite TV subscriptions and typically cost less and do not require any long-term contracts. Some of the most well-known streaming services include Netflix, Hulu and Sling TV.

How is Streaming Video Service different than my regular Cable TV Subscription?

With a regular cable TV subscription, you receive your video service from your Cable Company. This service is delivered to you via coax (cable) or fiber (IPTV) directly into your home. With this service, you will typically have 250+ available channels offered to you from your cable company. These channels include your local networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, local news, weather and sports), national networks (AMC, Comedy Central, TNT, etc.) and premium channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime and Starz). When you watch these channels, it is in real-time only, unless you record a show onto a DVR and watch it later. These channels are grouped into a few different packages with different monthly costs. On average, you can expect to pay about $70 a month for a limited channel package plus an additional cost for set top boxes, DVR service, broadcast fees and more. Additionally, Cable Companies many times require long-term contracts if you want to get the lowest advertised price on their services.

Streaming Video Service is delivered over the Internet. You can subscribe to this service from many different providers like Netflix, Hulu, Sling, etc. as long as you have an Internet connection and some sort of streaming device like an AirTV Player. The benefit of streaming video service providers is that there are many options available so you have much more choice in which channels you want to view and how much you want to pay for them. Plus, streaming video service is on demand from anywhere you go and on available to view on most wireless devices. Additionally, when you switch to streaming video service through an AirTV player, you can connect an over-the-air antenna and receive all the local channels available in your area for free! And the best part is that you will probably pay much less each month if you switch to streaming video services from a regular cable TV subscription. Plus, there are no long-term contracts!
